Thank you, Bow residents!

Thank you to all Bow residents who participated in the 2015 Town Meeting, and for approving the Library’s Lower Level Renovation warrant article for $50,000.  We now stand at $250,000 raised by the Town for the project, and $161,000 raised privately.  The Library Trustees are committed to raise the majority of the remaining private monies needed by the 2016 Town Meeting, where we will ask for the remaining $50,000 of the Town’s share of the project.  Comments or questions?  Contact Lori Fisher, Library Director, at 224-7113 or

The Baker Free Library has received major pledge donations from three organizations with roots in the Bow community to support their Lower Level Renovation fundraising efforts. The Concord Group Insurance has donated $5,000 to underwrite one of the two group tutoring rooms in the renovated Lower Level space. The Bow Rotary has pledged $20,000, specifically for completion of the informal meeting area to be known as the Bow Rotary Community Room — a space designed to help Bow residents connect. Merrimack County Savings Bank has pledged $35,000, with naming rights to the 75-person meeting space that will be available to local non-profit groups.

“This is an important project for our town,” according to Paul Rizzi, President and CEO of Merrimack County Savings Bank. “The Baker Free Library serves as Bow’s community gathering place, and there’s a documented need for more meeting space. Helping to provide for this need in partnership with our neighbor and fellow long-time community institution is a perfect match for Merrimack County Savings Bank.”

The Library’s Lower Level Renovation Project fundraising has been underway for more than a year, raising over $160,000 privately and $200,000 by town warrant. The Library Trustees seek to raise half of the total renovation cost of $600,000 privately, with the other half appropriated by town warrant. Private fundraising should be completed by March 2016. The renovation will include multiple large meeting spaces as well as storage space for historical documents and artifacts related to Bow’s history, which will be publicly accessible through the efforts of the Bow Heritage Commission.

“We are very grateful for the support of Concord Group Insurance, Bow Rotary, and Merrimack County Savings Bank,” according to Ann Hoey, Chairman of the Baker Free Library Board of Trustees. “Their collaboration with us to strengthen the Bow community through this project will have long-term positive benefits for many residents.”

The Baker Free Library Foundation continues to accept donations to the Lower Level Project.  For more information, contact Mark Leven, BFL Foundation Director, at

Thank you, Bow Residents

Thank you to all of the residents who participated in town meeting on 3/24 – it is important that residents have the opportunity to voice their opinions on how their tax money is spent.  The Library’s warrant article for $150,000 towards the Lower Level Renovation project passed on a second vote.  This year saw a close vote on many articles, so we are grateful to everyone who participated.
